Any tips for state inspection on a turbo car?
If the Link is properly tuned and the cat is good, you should not have a problem passing.
i know some people that may help pm me and we can talk. I am personlly an inspector myself so if you have any questions let me know.
With a link, pull some fuel and timing first. Let me know if i can help more.
put AFR at 14.7 in the cells they use for the test (either with the fuel table or o2 correction). That's all there is to it.
Take it to the Kwik Kar oil change place on Main Street in the Colony. They'll pass anything. Seriously...
next time take it to the barrio.
Apariah, sorry they didn't pass you. I've taken several suspect cars to them and they always passed them. Always had good luck at that place. Did they dyno it?
I had an old 85 Tercel that failed emissions once. I retarded the timing, changed the oil, fuel filter and plugs and it passed the next time through. Also, the hotter your cat, the better it works... so you could try driving it really hard for a while before you have them inspect it. That way it'll be nice and hot when they put that sniffer in the tail pipe.
I used to know a guy that would pass any car for $50. He'd just hook his honda civic up to the dyno instead of the car you were inspecting. Unfortunately I don't know how to contact him and I haven't talked to him in a long time. But you might try something like that if all else fails.
Fill up with E85:
93 octane

Great but can a Miata run on E85 without modifications?
Yes... you would want to wait until you're almost completely out of gas then fill up with a gallon of e85 and drive slowly to the inspection station (NO wide open throttle or high rpms), then immediately afterwards go top off with regular gas. You would not want to run on it for any length of time or get on the gas much at all.
