Sandblasting and powdercoating in DFW

My new roommate (you eastsiders met him at a couple of the Wednesday meets) has a big Dodge pickup with an aftermarket front bumper. The bumper was painted, but the paint is chipping off and it pretty much looks like crap right now... so he's thinking about getting it sandblasted and powdercoated.

We tried the pressure washer on the highest power, but it doesn't get all of the paint off in all the places.

Is there a sandblasting place that does bigger stuff like this? It's one of those brush guard bumpers, the huge steel ones. He'd prefer to do it cheap, but any quality work would be good.

Also, is powdercoating a bumper a good idea? I don't know how it would be with rock chips... I'm sure it would be better than paint, but I don't know much about it.

Any suggestions?

Gary has a guy he is using for blasting and powder coating. You might give him a call and ask who it is.

On advice from the building maintenance supervisor where I work, I hit the bar on the front of my truck with a rotary wire brush and sprayed with hi-temp grill paint (black). It's held up great over the past 18 months. If the paint's coming off over a large area, though, it might be more work than you really want to deal with yourself.

Able Blasting, but if Powdercoating I check with your coater.
If you touch fresh blast it will rust, almost immediately.

Sodablasting is another option, but not if powdercoating.

Hmmm my wife picked up an old chair with a little bit of rust on it at Canton.

I wonder how much they will charge to strip the paint/rust off of that?

Update.. he bought a wire brush and we stripped the old paint and rust off of it, then he put on several coats of bedliner. It looks great and I think it'll hold up pretty well.
