He says he gets 404 at the wheel so maybe he's getting close to the GTR hp at the crank; 460 maybe?
Once this thing is really available for the $70k or so it's supposed to price at (in other words, after the inevitable gouging), this thing is going to put a real bite in the sales of Porsche's, Corvettes, and the like.
Not quite. The G35 is known as the Skyline in Japan, but not the Skyline GTR. Nor does the upcoming GT-R share much at all with the current G35/Skyline.
The R35 GT-R is built off of a heavily modified version of Nissan's global FM (front-midship) platform, and shares next to nothing in common with other current FM-chassis models (G35, G37 Coupe, 350Z, FX35, FX45, M35, M45, etc.) In fact, the chassis under a G35/Skyline has more in common with an FX35 than it does with the GT-R. The GT-R carries a rear-mounted transaxle, while the rest of the FM-platform cars carry conventional front-mounted transmissions.
Heck, the R35 won't even carry a Skyline badge on it, here or in Japan. Nissan has decided to differentiate the R35 from the other Skyline models, unlike past generations of GT-R.
I stand corrected.
By the time I save up enough pennies, I guess I can it at sticker!?
Meh... I still think it's one of the ugliest cars Nissan has ever vomited up.
Looks are a part of, I will agree with that, but technologically and performance wise, the car stands apart form most other offerings on the market. Unless you consider cars like the Capparo T1 and a very select few others in the same category.
Furthermore, the Skyline has never really been about looks. It has usually been all buisness with a hint of look to set it apart from the rest.
^^ Yeah, but not everybody just looks at performance... personally, I wouldn't buy an ugly car just because it was high performance. OTOH, I find many supercars beautiful, even the ones most people find ugly ;)
