Car with non functional odometer, could it be inspected?

Hi all,

For a car that have a non functional odometer, could the car still passed inspection? This is a early 90's car, if that makes a difference.

Yes I did it before with a 92 Buick.

I don't think you have to have a working odometer for an inspection.

Isn't the mileage recorded and reported via carfax? You may pass the inspection, but the lack of mileage change may trigger a red flag in Carfax.

Non working odometer should be OK.

Its exempt anyway, but if the speedo works, then the inspector will not be able to tell the odo doesn't work.
Assuming its not digital. :o

yeah... inspections cover safety and smog issues. They don't care about mileage..... my jetta's odometer stopped at 185k miles, and it wasn't an issue
