Motorollow junior is going to Texas A&M in the Fall, and he has a Gateway 24" 1080p LCD monitor that he wants to use as a TV. The dorm provides a coax connection for cable TV but the monitor does not have a coax connection (but it every other kind of connection: HDMI, DVI, VGA, RGB, RCA & USB).
Does anyone have a recommendation for a non-computer dependent TV tuner that actually works well?

No specific experience recently... my dad used to have a Mitsubishi monitor with a stand-alone TV tuner. Something like this...

There are HDTV tuner cards that you can plub into a usb slot or a pci slot and watch tv on the computer that way.

I was thinking about buying this, but it may be more than he needs.
On a related subject, has anyone had any luck with any of the wireless TV transmitters on the market? I'd like to add a TV in the shop at some point down the road, but running a line out there is not something I want to deal with.
