So in this month TXU bill I get a notice that the 15.12 kWk plan we were on is being "transitioned" to another plan and the new plan costs more.... ::Bulb::
I've been looking at www.powertochoose.org and I am a bit overwhelmed with all my choices. Many plans look better than what I have now but is it all smoke and mirrors??
So I figured I ask who you kids have for 'lectricity.

I just dumped Star Tex after they jacked my rate up to 18.9 kwh just in time for summer. When I got the June bill for $630, I switched over to Onpac for 14.5 kwh. And on my final bill from Star Tex, to reward me for leaving, the rate was 20.5 kwh.::Rant::
My mom just switched over to Amigo energy and got a fixed rate of 15.5 for 24 months.
I have Direct Energy. It is not the cheapest but is OK. You can pay with credit card. Depends on you card's rebate, you can get some pennies back by paying with your card.
We signed up in March, when we moved here, and our contract rate is $0.1275/kWh. It is with Direct Energy and I believe it is for 1 year, maybe two.

BTW,
I had Direct Energy and was 36 hours late due to an oversight on my part. I was getting harassed about my being late and that I had to pay the previous month plus the month that the bill had not even been received in the mail yet. It took me less than 24 hours to decide on going back to TXU.

The best rate I can find is $0.139/kWh with 12 months fix garrantee from Champion Energy Services. It looks like I am taking my business there after 2 years with Direct Energy.
We don't have a choice. It's the county co-op or the county co-op. I'll check the rates we I get back home and post them.
Electric Co-ops are usually better. My parents have used FEC (Farmer's Electric Co-op) for 25 years, and their rate was just raised to .0895 or so (with few fees). Mix in their energy efficient log house, and even with 5-6 tons of a/c (2 units) their bill is usually under $220. Me and ingrid found the cheap plan on powertochoose.org, and YEP charges us .14XX, with more fees. I haven't gotten the first bill yet...

I just sign up for 2-year fixed rate contracts with the cheapest one available. I'm sooooooo glad the State deregulated the energy market because competition made prices sooooooo much lower. :confused:

I have TXU and I never signed up for any plan but they have me on "flex protect" and my average is .12 per kw. My electric bill has been lower this year than past summers...I did get new windows put on my house but don't believe they are making that big a difference.
TXU also has a "rewards" program - it's pretty neat, I haven't figured out how you earn the rewards but I've earned alot and have so far gotten an Entertainment Passbook with the rewards...and still have a bunch left...
I've never switched from them, a customer since 1990 at the same address. Every now and then they give me credits on my bill...don't understand that either, sometimes it's $25 sometimes it's $75...someone told me it was because they were charging their customers too much in the first place....but I'm pretty happy with my bill - I was afraid of what it would be this month and was pleasantly surprised considering how cold I keep the house!
