I was watching discovery channel the other night and listened to a guy from SETI talk about a program that uses your home PC to analyse data that they collect from the big radio telescope.... there are 4.5 Million people participating... I am participating for fun... plus you can use it to test the stability of your overclocked pc.....
I've been using the SETI@home as a screensaver... I love it. Although, it sometimes uses more resources than I'd like.
I used to use it when it first started up many years ago. I don't really have any comments for or against it. You can control the amount of system resources it uses and when. I never did get to talk to ET tho. :(
theres also that "folding@home" deal for stem cell research that is similar, dont do either though.
