Camera Phone Warning

A couple of my students tried this in class the other day. At about 6 feet, you can read all the info on the card :shock:

Y'know, as a race we really suck. All the greed, dishonesty, and stupidity make me really want to just give it all up and go live in a cave sometimes. :?

When I was about 8, I saw a bunch of baby chicks pecking at a weaker one that was dying. They'd pretty much disemboweled the poor thing. At some point down the road, I realized that, unless your species is ROCK, you're probably going to be preying on, or preyed upon by, someone of your own species, and that this isn't specific to the human race. :cry: So, while caves are nice, they really aren't practical, Iain. I realize that not having a bathroom isn't a real issue for you, but did you know that there are no electrical hookups for a beer fridge?!?! :shock:

I had a car payment removed from my mailbox 2 years ago, the check washed and rewritten, and $2800.00 removed from my bank account. The attitude of the police (though the girl had rewritten it and actually not even tried to copy my handwriting and my bank had her fingerprint from when she opened the account...anyway, I apparently did more investigating than the police) was that she wasn't going to get convicted because cameras at ATMs (which is what she used) weren't very good so they couldn't prove she was actually the one who had done it or were even nonworking units at remote sites. Anyway, the FDIC saw that I recouped my money, and now if I put anything into my mailbox (I'm quite rural now and we all have guns out here, so pretty much nobody messes with our mailboxes) I don't use the red flag. By the same token, if you're putting cards or bills into a blue postal mailbox, if you can see or touch the mail that's in the box (especially this busy time of year), don't put yours in...too easy for somebody just to pull up and grab a handful out of the box and drive away.

Here's another scam that was attempted on me about a month ago. A collect call from Dallas County Department of Corrections came in and I couldn't understand what the caller was saying and I thought it sounded like my son, so I accepted charges. Some kid told me this was his only call (not if it's coming from a payphone at Dept of Corrections, it isn't) and stated he'd dialed the wrong number and asked if I'd contact a person at his work number (214)xxx-xxxx, but that I needed to dial *72 first because that was a special extension required. Well, that's actually Call Forward. What I did was forwarded my phone and then dialed from another number and found out the number that my phone was being forwarded to. I then called the police....no crime had been committed because I turned the phone right back over and they didn't have time to charge any long-distance calls to it :roll:
