Toyota 22RE 4x4 skills?
I'm looking for anyone with experience in older Toyota trucks to give me advice/experience/pointer on straightening-up my recent purchase: 1987 4Runner 22RE, A/T.
Its going to live at the beach house in Port Aransas, so i want to do as much tune-up and fix-up while its still in Dallas where I have good parts access and a stocked garage.
If you or anyone you know has experience with these trucks/engines, I'd love to know where to best focus my energy. Thanks!

Change the plugs, fuel filter, plug wires and all the fluids.
If you are not familure with 4x4s and want someone to give the running gear a once over for problems then contact Russ at Baertrax. He specializes in off-road vehicles. http://www.baertrax.com
I could help you give it a once over for overall health and point out any obvious problems.

Great. Thanks for the info, and I will take you up on the offer to go over the truck with me.
I have 20 + years of Jeep/Scout experience, so I'm pretty solid on the T-case/u-joints/diffs. Mainly, I'm open to advice about Toyota trucks, since the only one I've owned is a 74 FJ40.

We had a 91 Toy pickup with the 22re. Other then replacing the plugs and wires it was rock solid.
