damn, I should have gone! BSP was weak/non existant. I could be just like JJ and have the "that time I won a national tour" story.
The CSP times are all better any other class! Talk about stiff competition!

Also pretty cool that a E36 M3 sedan won STU! Also what kind of crazy DSP car ran over 1+ second faster than the winning CSP car?
Schenker's car broke on Sunday morning, so J-Fo and Bill ran Sunday in a borrowed ST2 car on some crusty old Hoosiers. If you look at the results from just Saturday, CSP was over 1.5 seconds faster than DSP.Quote:

On day one, I got lucky because Bill coned away two scratch times easily good enough for 1st.
On day two, he tried loading a high altitude map. For some reason the car wouldn't start no matter what. We ran 1st heat and this all came up as we were supposed to be in grid. Since we were both in a position for contingency awards. We had to find a mazda on hoosiers that was eligble for csp.
The only car in a class was on kumho's. All the others had co-drivers. So we located two STS miatas. Which was a task in itself since those guys were all on course. We were able to locate one. AND, a fellow CSP competitor had some backup, crusty hoosiers on 13" wheels. Well they wouldn't fit the car we picked out because it had hub-centric rings glued on.
THEN, found another STS miata that the wheels did fit on. Just in time for my 1st run. 1st run was a wash getting acclimated to a new car, course and the rush of the morning. After that I made two decent runs. Better than Bill's by quite a margin. But even with a 3 second margin over the rest of the pack after day 1. Our times were really really concerning.
I goofed and coned all three of my runs. While Bill posted a slower but clean run on his last attempt. Somehow we managed to finish 1-2 despite our poor performance on day 2.
All in all, the efforts made by everyone at that event to help us out were 1st class. I will definitely be back next time. And I hope some fellow TX region members can make the trek!
