Hi from Rangiora, New Zealand

Hi there,
Having recently acquired my very first sports car at the age of 60+ I'm having a ball!
What a fantastic bit of kit the MX-5 is - whover nicknamed it a'a hairdressers car' really know nothing about the fun one can have in a machine so beautifully engineered that 1800cc feels like you're sitting in a rocket sled!
Just found the dfwmiata forum and it looks a good place to pick up hints and tips re my Miata - we call them Roadsters down here - but whatever you call 'em, the MX-5 is a very tasty car :D

Welcome, I didn't start autocrossing until I was 58 years old. I bought my Miata when I was 60. I went to my first HPDE, High Performance Driving Experience school, at Hallett Raceway at the age of 62. Don't let age slow you down, enjoy your car.

Welcome! NZ and Oz are on my short list for future travel. We're looking at moving next year and hope to buy another MX-5 when we get there.

Welcome. Interesting that the record for most Miatas here at MiataWorldII beat the previous record that was set in New Zealand. I'm guessing there must be alot of Miatas down there.

Rangiora is just outside of Christchurch, right? I spent a summer on the south island 30 something years ago. Stunningly beautiful.

cone-cerned, Thanks for the welcome, and for the advice re autocrossing (that's got nothing to do with wearing my wife's clothes has it? :D ), and my attitude to age and speed runs a bit like that saying you used to hear in the 60's - old Ford's never die, they just go faster' :clown:

What, moving over for good?
MX-5's are THE most popular two seater sports car (let's be honest here - they're the ONLY two seater sports car) here in NZ. Terrific thing is, we get such a great choice of near-new JDM models with really low k's on them for peanuts!

Yep, the record for 'the largest parade of Mazda cars (not specifically MX-5's) was 249 vehicles on the 9th October 2005 here in NZ. Did yu guys do a Miata only version?
