Stupid AC

We had a capacitor blow out on one of our AC units this last weekend. Had it repaired on Monday. Came home this afternoon and its 85 degrees in the house. Start checking and the other AC was blowing hot air. Looks like the fan on the compressor unit outside fried today. They can't come out and check it until tomorrow afternoon. So its gonna suck sleeping in a sauna tonight.

I really hate AC problems. We have had issues over the last 3 or 4 years every summer. I was hoping we could last one more year but we will probalby have to break down and buy new outside units. We had the inside coils replaced on both units in March because of leaks. ::Rant::::Censor::

Sucks. Mine went last week as well. Capacitor fixed it, but now I got a leak too. ::Censor::Seems like mine alway go out on a weekend ::Rant::

So replace it yourself not a big job, replaced mine at the start of last summer. Took me about an hour once I had the parts in my hand including the capacitor. ;)

I would but I am worried that the compressor burned up. It was still running even though the fan was not. The shell was almost too hot too touch when I got home from work. It was not making a happy noise.

If you have so much trouble w your AC, you may want to consider this. You may able to get a new unit on their dime!

Man, that sucks a stack of ass. This time of year is unbearable without AC.

Those suck if you don't live in a desert. All they do is make it seem hotter than it realy is. Plus their float valve constantly gets stuck open causing floods. I have 14 of them at work that I would love to through off the edge of the roof(40 foot up).

Well it was only the fan motor. The compressor is fine for now. They just need to last the rest of the year and we will replace them in the early spring.

Stay away from Sears Home Improvement... We had ours serviced several times in the first 2 years. Huge PITA and they use idiots to service them until you get pissed and start calling up the food chain.

They even tried to tell us the outside coil was bad and wasn't made anymore.
