Which interior house paint is better for the $, Home Depot (BEHR) or Lowes (Valspar)? I am thinking painting the garage and need some "high-hide" interior latex paint. Is the ceiling use the special "ceiling paint"? I see this in their websites.

Ceiling paint is more viscous for less dripping. Other than that there is not much difference. It goes on thick so it covers fewer sq. ft. per gallon. It's not worth it unless you are painting above carpet and furniture. The best bet is a coat of Ridz before paint since you will be covering exaust/smoke residue.
I prefer Valspar or Sherwin Williams paint over Behr. The Behr causes my Mom to have an asmatic fit, where as the Valspar and Sherwin Williams paints do not. All three hold up well.
I think Creek was talking about using Kilz primer for the initial coat as well. It will keep out any stains from apearing, should you have ever had any leaks from the roof.
When I did my house (in/out) I tried a few different ones from HD. The Ralph Lauren at HD is ok, but Sherwin-Williams (SuperPaint) was ultimatly the obvious choice (used on int trim and exterior). I'll be using that in the future..
For the garage, I used wally-world and it was/is fine..
Sherwin Williams FTW.
