The Miata Wave

Ok here goes. We should start the "Miata Wave". What is it you ask, well quite simply when you see another Miata, make sure that you give them a wave or a thumbs up. See its kind of an exclusive club sort of. owning a Miata. Kind of like riding a motorcycle. Those that dont, don t understand it. And of course most that do are passionate about it. Motorcyclist do it as kind of a salute. So the next time you see a fellow Miata driver give them a wave. I think it could spread throughout the community. I already do it and people think I am nutts or something. So it you want to look nutts then give a wave and see if you get a smile back. Let me know what you think.

Yea same here! I always try to wave unless it is bmcreider then I shake my fist. ;)

I had never seen anything about it. Sorry if this was redundant.

I've found there are two kinds of Miata drivers - those who wave and those that don't even know you're in a Miata.

My barndoors don't move, so I acknowledge the other Miata driver when they appear to 'get it'.

I always wave.

I always give the hand on the A-pillar wave or atleast the knowing nod.

There seems to be a lot more Miata owners, or drivers, than there are Miata enthusiasts. I wave, but very seldom get a return wave, even from Miata drivers that I see often around our little town.

My barn doors work, at least when I have the fuse installed, and I wave with them most of the time.

When Mazda did away with the barndoors the Wave died. O\ O\

I waved at Sammm once. He gave me the finger. I'm a little timid about trying it again.

Hey Sammm, So did you just about get hit after AX Sunday turning from Central Dr onto the 183 access road? I looked up in my mirror and and looked like you had just taken some kind of evasive move to keep from getting hit. Did you give the guy a miata wave?

I try to, but 90% of they time they don't see me. The other 10% give me the confused 'why is that guy waving at me?' look.

About half of the male drivers I wave at wave back. I don't think I've ever had a woman driver wave back, although I did get a dirty look when I passed one that I presume belonged to the Lone Star Miata club :lol:

Yes I did...twice by the same ::Censor:: guy! I kept honking and he kept coming over. He stopped for 1/2 second and decided it was clear since he couldn't see me out of his SUV. He didn't want to miss his restaurant entrance. I ended up stopping long enough to get behind him and come up on his left. That's when I waved. ::Rant::

I wave with barndoors, my girlfriend used to think I was crazy but now she waves at other Miata's even when she's driving something else. People really think she's crazy then unless it's a young guy cause then they go all crazy.

I waved at an MSM yesterday who I see all the time on my commute, as usual, no reply wave.

I don't wave anymore because people just think I'm done...but a woman in an NC was jacking with me in the turbo car. I opened it up at 18psi and at the next stop she said, "that car is insane." :)

I used to wave a lot and got few in return. 1 out of 10, at best, wave back.

And all you sons of bitches know what my car looks like, so if anyone ever waves (or shakes their fist) at me, I usually know it's someone that likes Miatas and may be on here.
