Freaking sweet.
GtPlanet's write up:

The car in the demo will be a 370Z, stock and tuned.
The track looks to be the Indianapolis GT track. "GTPlanet reveal the demo will include either Spa Francorchamps or the Indianapolis Motor Speedway."
There will also be an online competition:
"
Stage One – will offer Gran Turismo fans a sneak preview of the hotly-anticipated Gran Turismo 5 game, due for release during 2010. Competitors will record flying laps on a time trial-based track available via PlayStation®Network, accessed through PS3. Unlike the first GT Academy, participants will not have to enter the competition using the GT5 PrologueTM game itself, and so even more hopeful racing drivers are expected to take part.
Stage Two – the holders of the twenty fastest online lap times from each participating country will qualify for their national final event. Tensions will run high as they battle each other on another exclusive Gran Turismo 5 level for the chance to move to the next phase of the competition.
Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital and creator of the Gran Turismo series, shares Wijnen’s enthusiasm. “This has been a very rewarding partnership. The whole GT Academy concept is very close to my heart. Our target with the Gran Turismo series has always been to come as close as possible to a real driving experience. To witness the level of driving achieved by GT players after a relatively short space of time at the GT Academy was very satisfying for me and I look forward to seeing the 2010 finalists in action. I am also very happy to have the opportunity for our GT community to have a preview of the Gran Turismo 5 game.”
The online section of the game will run from 17 December until 24 January with national finals following soon afterwards. The GT Academy itself takes place from 26 February until 3 March. The two winners will have to quickly clear their diaries, as their intensive training programme will start immediately and culminate in one driver racing in the opening European GT4 Cup race that could be at Silverstone on 2 May."
Just bring out the freaking game already... ::Censor::
I just installed "Race On" on the PC. I've only logged about 15 minutes, but it rocks. If they didn't use rFactor's engine, they have some 'splainin' to do, as it's very, very similar. It has better/more car choices & graphics than rFactor. Ok, so I'm still partial to FWD/Minis, which it has.
/shakes fist at "throttle steering RWD guys" while storming off.
TexasStig - fwiw, iRacing is the most realistic racing game out there, period. I played GTR2 (precursor to Race, Race 07, and Race On) for quite some time, but that franchise has nothing on iRacing. Downside is you have to subscribe to the service... however, it's the best online racing I've ever experienced.
Hey Moonie, I play Iracing too. What cars do you drive? I am hooked on the spec racer ford for now.
This season... nothing. My son was just born at the start of this season and I havn't had any time to race :) At the end of last season I finally earned my A-License. I've been dying to race the DP as the Rolex series is my favorite to watch...
I've raced in the solstice, skippy, spec racer, and star mazda. I've driven everything else. I'm not too crazy about the Jetta, C6R, or Lotus GP car...
Anyone tried the demo out yet? I downloaded it but have not have not driven it. Has this been updated since GT5 Prologue? New graphics, physics?
Just played ~10 laps on tuned and stock.
Cool but not much new.
The stock version sucks b/c you can't disable TC. TC FTL
The track is interesting but this does VERY little to sate my appetite for GT5. I'll probably end up buying the Japanese version if the US version won't come out for >3 months after that.

I was watching a Bluray movie I received for Xmas and had to d/l a system update, so I d/l'd this demo too to see what it was all about.
Overall, very disappointing. It's almost laughable how bad it is considering how long this game has been in the works.
The track is a cool track. I loved that track in the EA Sports F1 series. This GT5 demo just doesn't do it any justice.
I really, really hope this demo is not a true representation of the final product. The graphics are absolutely laughable, maybe around the level of Forza Motorsport 1. The physics haven't been changed a bit from GT4, unless they've been downgraded. And the controls are terrible.
I'm honestly shocked after all the nutswinging the Sony fanbois have been doing. I'm not a big Gran Turismo fan but I was expecting to be impressed...
WOW! im glad im not wasting any time waiting as ive been playing forza3... i expect to be impressed with GT5 as well... i really want it to be better than F3.
