If Mazda makes it look even close to that prototype drawing, they would have a line out the door for people wanting to buy it. Could you imagine a supercar looking production car under 30k?
Except that "protoype drawing" is a drawing of the Mazda Furai concept car from a couple years ago, which was based on a Courage C65 ALMS P2 chassis. Not exactly a good basis for a road going, sub $30k sports car.
Besides, I don't think Mazda has ever done a production mid-engine car. I'd expect the next gen RX-7 to be just like the last three - front engine, rwd, based on a revision of the current MX-5/RX-8 chassis architecture.
Agree, no way they will put the Furai body on a production car.
When the new RX7 comes out, the resale price of the RX8 will through the bottom from bad to really bad. On the other hand, it may be the time to get at real TCB deal of the left over RX8!
If you gut out the RX8, it will not be any more porkier than the new RX7 and with a more powerful engine. The RX8 will than be a TCB track car?
I thought the RX-8 was the "new" RX-7 so woudn't this be the an RX-7 that's a new RX-8 lol?
