Lets put it my car, and Ill let you know.
A new toy? Inquiring minds want to know!
This is a type 1 Torsen, from my understanding there is also a type 2 available.

Sammmmmm,
If you are in the market for a LSD, try search the online junk yard invenory search. I found one at a reasonable price for my "injured" 99 Touring a couple years ago. It came with the diff housing which made the install almost a plug and play. Some junk yard don't know what they have on their hands.
Gab
What junk yard did you get yours from Gab?
It's supposed to be a type 2.Quote:

The type 2 works a little better from what I have read...but the main difference is the lockup percentage and the enclosed case on the type 2.
Hope this helps a little.
Did you land it or were you too late?Quote:

It is definitely a Type 2 Torsen. I have an identical unit sitting at the house. The main operational difference with the T2 is that it geared more toward deceleration bias than the T1.
Does anyone know where to get parts cleaned? The guy that shipped my diff shipped it in a box full of styrofoam and didn't wrap the diff. :rambo:
Give it to me. I'll clean it for ya'! Where did you get yours from?Quote:

You might check with them.
Thanks for the links guys! :thumleft: The search continues.
I have a question. When I search car-part.com and select 'carrier' for a part name, does anyone know what that includes? I'm assuming it's just not the guts for the differential.
I think it is the term the junk use for the diff. I called them up and asked them exactly what was included.
Usually those yards that has CB deals are the one who sell the housing and the diff. in one piece.
I just saw this one on Ebay - LINKIE
Is this what is meant by 'carrier'. Would this be a relatively simple swap out. No 'tweaking' of the differential back-lash and run-out needed that is.
Sweet deal... you can keep the price where it's at... time for a sniping program?
You can count on that going for around $400. That seems to be the going price. I found one on car-part.com for $400, but it's another $100 for freight shipping to me. I'll be watching the Ebay one at $30 shipping!Quote:
