Would BBS wheels from a VW or BWM work? Are the offsets the same or similar? Something like these:

I have been thinking the same thing lately (BBS substitutes). I think the VW's are 5 lugs, but some of the older BMW's are 4 lug and should work. The Miata lug pattern is 4x100 BTW. This is a very helpful chart that I found awhile back.

I have heard the early BMW rims will work. But not sure if the offset is the same. I forgot that VW had used them also......Quote:

Although the chart doesn't give an exact offset measurement...
Also found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...4&tc=photo
all mk4's are 5x100Quote:

mk2's and 1's are mostly 4x100 unless someone has done a 5lug conversion.
edit: i'm talking about golf's and jetta's, not passats
If the offset is close enough, they might work. The price is sure right on the 14s. What are the approximate years of the mk2 and mk3 VWs mentioned?
i believe mk3's are 93-99.5
and mk2's are 87-92 ? i always forget.
check out www.vwvortex.com and check the tire/wheels classifieds. you should be able to find some good deals on there.
Do any of you know for sure if BBS wheels off of a BMW E30 will fit on a Miata? I know the bolt pattern (4x100) is the same, but some of y'all today mentioned the offset is wrong. Where do I find that information? I've got a hot lead on some E30 BBS wheels! :D
FWIW, This chart says they will work.

I just went back to my BBS storage area  . And the rims are marked 14X6JJH2ET45.
Is 45 the offset??
Yes, I am fairly sure that's it. "BBS storage area".....bastard! :wink:Quote:

If I mounted the beemer wheels they would be ~1/2" further from the shock to the inside of the wheel, and the outside edge of the wheel would extend ~ 1.5" further out. Guess they are out of the running. :(
PS
They also weigh around ~14lbs. each, whereas my OEM's are ~12lbs.
I wonder about the VW version of the BBS, like in the ebay auction
Most VW's are 35-38 offset, I believe, but further research is likely warranted before buying them from ebay...
VW's should be fine.
I watch the vwvortex.com forum for wheels, so don't bid againast me. :)
