Will I have to get my 1990 smogged when next inspection time comes? Because I was wanting to possibly eliminate the cat but if I have to smog then I'll scratch that idea.

They will put a sniffer up the tailpipe in OBD-I cars (pre-1996).
Well damn, scratch that idea then. Is the cutoff 25 years or 20?
I'd keep the cat, as for where to go for inspection go to Quick Sticker at the corner of Hurstview and Bedford Euless Rd. in Hurst . POS Racing and a few others here told me to go there.
I was in and out in 15 minutes , and My miata passed the sniffer after sitting for a year in storage. They never checked to see if I had a cat on the car
Not really, but I was wanting to get an FM cat or test pipe. An FM cat will still pass though right?
Yep, I'm running an FM cat and it passes with flying colors.
Awesome, that sounds like my plan then.
Not really... It is written as:
So this year, 2010-24=1986, so a 1986 model year car is considered 24 years old by the state, and is therefore in the final year of required emissions testing. It becomes exempt in January. For the Miata, a 1990 car does not become exempt until 1/1/2015, even though many of them were built and sold in 1989 and will be OVER 25 years old when they become exempt.Quote:
(B) two years old through and including 24 years old;
(30) Twenty-four years old--refers to a vehicle when the vehicle
model year is 24 years less than the current calendar
year (current calendar year minus 24 years).
Really? Where at?
Awesome, thanks!
