I've seen the 'maro at Nationals, but I have not seen the dune buggy. That rocks!
Take it to the beach on Saturday and autocross on Sunday.

I think the buggy is a great choice since Speed Buggy Never lost a race!
The goofy looking exhaust, is just the way the header/muffler are bent for use on Type I motored cars (Beetle and Ghia for example)... this is the bend required for them to fit under the fenders and such. As for the motor, no it's not a Type IV (often just called a Porsche) motor, you can tell from the heads. The Type IV styled fan shroud was made available for the Type I engine, it gets mixed reviews from the VW community.
