The new variant for the hardtop has been redesigned from the ground up to be, look and drive more aggressively. To start with, the car much wider fenders that frame its new 16 inch lightweight Enkei RPF1 wheels wrapped in 245/45-R16 Toyo Proxes RA1 R-compound tires. The smaller rims are a homage of sorts for the first generation MX-5s that also used 16 inch wheels.
Under the stylish metal hard-top, the headliner was stripped and a role-bar was fitted. The race derived roll-bar is welded to the chassis in 8 places to ensure that you are safe if the car rolls over. New seats with suede inserts and orange stitching have also been fitted. A Storm Gray and black with orange stripes and lettering color scheme was used for both the outside and the inside.
The designers have chosen a supercharged Cosworth engine for the car. The addition of DPTune reflashed ECU, Racing Beat 304-stainless steel header and exhaust should mean the car goes and sound just right.
To ensure the cars go around corners as they should, a number of key components were added, key among them being MAZDASPEED coil overs, Racing Beat hollow front and rear anti-roll bars, MAZDASPEED shock tower brace, Power Slot slotted brake rotors, StopTech DOT-compliant stainless steel brake lines and street performance brake pads, as well as SpeedSource front brake ducts.
Psst, Mazda - build it! Announce it today and my local dealer will have a deposit before the close of business this evening. Love it.
I love how they paid homage to the NA by bringing back the finger latches.
