I thought you were talking about Texas weather. Where else do you need to mow the lawn before you put up the Christmas decorations but decide to wait until midafternoon so it will be warmer?

What were your intake temps before and after?
Using the scangauge, the RX8 IMT is consistently <10 degrees above ambient when the car is moving. I can't see any reason to replace the factory airbox on this car.
I used the Scangauge. When I installed the brake ducts and AFE filter I removed the stock box and the plastic ducting for the OEM ducts. After doing this the intake temps were 107 yesterday at idle. With the box in place they dropped to 65 - 67 at idle. On the road the temps were 68, the intake temp was at 55. That piece at the bottom right of the screen is part of the OEM intake that acts as a ram air intake. The aluminum diverter is to keep too much air from rushing past the MAF when off throttle. Discovered I need it coming off the big track at TWS at 135mph and having the engine die because there was too much air. Overall I am happy with the results. One concern is will any water collect in the bottom from the ram air. Might add a drain line.
What about adding a cool pack in the bottom on hot days?
Probably won't last long in triple digit ambient temps. Ice packs are great for drag racers.
You could redirect one of the windshield washer nozzles to spray water in the intake stream - you'll get some additional cooling that way, but nothing below ambient.
