Annoying "please adopt a cat" thread

I'm not going to be one of those annoying people who begs you to adopt cats, this will be the only time you ever see one of these threads from me. These critters are less than 1-year old and lived next to my GF's old apartment and I grew attached to them. They're pretty social and they're my friends so I'd like to see them adopted as they are all that remains of the stray cat colony that wasn't killed in some recent bull-dozing. I'm happy to capture them and take them to you but they need a trip to the vet for spaying, a bath, and declawing (~$175 for everything including a chip with the City of Denton). All are confirmed female aside from #5.

My GF can pet and scratch all of them aside from #1 because she's so skittish.

#1 is skittish, possibly not-catchable and you probably only want this cat if it will be a relaxed environment. (This cat is 2-4 years old, the rest are <1)
#2 is very snuggly but shy and close to #5(needs to go with #5)
#3 this cat is the runt, she's fun but mean to the other kitties about food
#4 the fluffer is going to live with me
#5 also snuggly, a little more outgoing than #2 but still close to her buddy (needs to go wtih #2)

Boo for declawing. I can trim all three of my cats' claws solo -- ya just gotta be Top Cat.

Thanks, I'll check that out. I don't want to leave one kitty behind, alone.

I'd be in, but we had to give away the stray we took in about a month ago because our current cat decided she likes being the only cat for once. She came from a 4 cat household before I moved out here, but I guess she got used to be the only cat over this past year. Sorry, really wish I could help (especially with the fluffer if you weren't keeping her).

You may want to give the cats a little more time to socialize. At worst they'll develop a mutual respect for each other.

If you want The Fluffer you can take here, or anyone. I'll take in any of those cats. I am a little concerned about my beast of a cat with a friend, but I travel for 2-4 days at a time for work so I want to get a friend for my current kitty.

We had the stray for about 2 weeks. From past experiences that is plenty of time. But the pair of them just weren't having it at all, which was a shame. I'm thinking it might have been a difference of sexes. But the stray went to a friend so it's not that bad a deal.

I'll talk to the wifey about it, but I'm pretty sure I know the answer.

I was all for declawing my cat (I got plenty of scars on me) until my sister (a vet student) told me by declawing a cat they essentially amputate the last digit off their finger. Nasty.

Laser declawing is supposed to be a much less invasive way of declawing.

That said, my Mom declawed their previous cat and it took her about 6 months to fully recover. My current cat has her claws in tact and knows where to scratch and where not to scratch. I trim her claws by myself with ease now, but the first time I had to go to the Mckinney SPCA clinic. They charge $15 to trim the claws.

Also checkout http://www.barncats.org/index.php -- they take strays and "farm" them out as barn cats.
