It was back in the days of Banter (basically an anything goes section like Bull) Well, a few folks had a lot of fun. Maybe too much for some off the tight-asses over there.

RoadsterGirlie posted a thread entitled, "Who likes Porn?"

PigPen followed up with, "Poontang... It's poontangy!"

After that, Gary Fishsticks shut down Banter and stated the "rulz" as we know them. He said all threads had to have a "point" as in no threads like, "Hey.. how's going?"

Thus the Pointy Board was born and Team Pointless (used to be Yourmiata.com) a.k.a. the Darkside was born out of the refugees from Banter. RoadsterChat came along about a year later to fill in the gap between the two.

So there ya go! There is one theory of why it's called the pointy board!

Every post/thread must have a 'point'.

No mindless/drifting/comedic/hijacked threads like we enjoy here! :wink:

The world needs the Pointy Board. We lightly make fun of it, but it is an incredible source of collective wisdom about Miatas. The only board I've seen that even comes close is s2ki.com. I honestly believe that the :batman: is one of the finest forums on the Internet period. Yah, it can be somewhat overbearing at times. But it is always civil, the mods are (nearly) always polite, and Gary's insistence on running a "tight ship" has created an enduring website with few equals.

Thank goodness for the :batman: . Thank goodness for MME, too. But for me, the boards serve different functions and co-exist quite nicely and peacefully. I believe everyone else here feels the same way.

I'm glad someone cleared that up... Since the kitty emoticon is used when referring to that board, I thought it had something to do with...uhhhh, the p word that rhymes with wussies... But I'm old and often mislead myself. :oops: Of course, maybe that emoticon is NOT a kitty... :twisted:

The Pointy Board does serve a purpose and does have some useful info and knowledgeable but often anal peeps.

Just don't make the mistake that "everything" you read there is correct.

Many people spout off opinion as truth.

The only thing I can't stand is some of those mod-nazis. Especially this one...
