i threw the alt/water pump belt yesterday when driving out to tyler. i didnt notice the gauge immediately and probably drove 15 miles in various states of a pegged temperature gauge. fortunately there was a mazda dealer next to my client meeting and a new belt was installed quickly. all seems to be ok, but should i be looking anywhere in particular for damage? it was too hot ambient temp wise but still concerned.

It you have problems, (head gasket etc) they will show up in short order.
If you or driving with no probs, then you are most likely fine.
If it got that hot you would know. (Ie detonation or loss of power)
Check oil for a milky tinge, or a creamy goo in the oil cap, indicating coolant in the oil.
also in the radiator indicating oil in the coolant.
bubbles in the puke tank indicate compression in the cooling system.
