What is this?

Yesterday, I watered the front dust yard. Today after changing the oil in the wifes HHR and my Z4, I washed them. I then polished and corrected the headlight lenses. I prepared some steaks and started some charcoal. As I was putting the tools away and getting the grill ready...I think it is water...began pouring from the sky. I think I heard the Ancients speak of this kind of event but I don't remember seeing it myself. Somebody please tell me what this stuff falling from the sky is called.

Maybe I'll wash my car today and see if it brings us some too.

Didn't work for me. My daughter and I washed, did the clay bar treatment and waxed her Mazda3 and all I got was heat stroke.
