Best FREE IM app?
Need an app that allows free IM for an upcoming out-of-country vacation. Got killed last year with IM fees, and Verizon doesn't offer a compelling monthly international plan. I hear Google has a decent app. Any others? Needs to be iPhone compatible.
Thanks!

Get SKYPE and as long as you have wi-fi you can make phone calls, you can also send text messages. Pretty cheap also. When I was on a detachment to Morocco a 10 dollar SKYPE credit lasted me a whole month and then some. But I wasn't on the phone 24-7 either I would make 20-30 minutes worth of calls every few days.
Edit- This was on an iPhone. I yanked the SIM card as soon as we left the country to avoid accidental international data charges which are VERY expensive.

I have the Skype app, but have never used it. Obviously never sent a text message either.

Never sent a text VIA Skype. Sent plenty of expensive texts last year in Mexico...;)

Aim express or whatever is probably the best that I've used, the others were sketchy 1-2 years ago.
