Texas Region SCCA Autocross # 7, TMS Infield Road Course, 9/11/11

The Texas Region of the SCCA is having their annual event on the infield road course at Texas Motor Speedway on 9/11. There are entry restrictions and a cap on the number of entrants. More info here: http://texasscca.org/Solo/SoloAboutSolo.aspx.

This event has some special requirements - you must have autocrossed at least 3 times in the current year to be eligible for this event. We'll be checking local results when you sign up, and will contact you if we can't verify that you meet the prerequisite. This is a safety issue for us - not so much for the drivers, but for the workers. The Road Course is a large venue with workers spread out over long stretches. It's important that the worker pool be experienced in this situation.

This event will be online registration only. THERE ARE NO WALK UP REGISTRATIONS PERMITTED. This is necessary for us to verify your experience and it also helps us plan a better event for you!

So there's good news about the course!!

In previous years, the course was "slowed down" by our Safety Guys due to some pressure from the National Office.

This year the course is being... "opened-up" a bit to keep people from getting out of shape.

What does this mean??

That means it's been determined by several safety officials that it's better to allow a bit more speed on course, than it is to try to slow things down & have someone get out of shape and go off course.

TX Region SCCA Solo only runs the TMS infield road course once per year. It's a blast don't miss it!!

Back in AZ, whenever we ran on the Firebird road courses we would go by the SCCA Club racing rules in regards to going off-track. If we have a 4-wheel off, are we done for the day?

Have to go to Tech, IIRC.

Certainly something we have discussed at one point. But currently this is not the case.

As Onething mentioned above, you will have to have your car re-Tech'd if you have a off-course situation. And that is written in stone!!

If I can make a request. Can we please have a start gate that is larger than the last few years? And one with a normal chute instead of the disaster we have previously seen.
