I have a new camera
Just got my combination Christmas/B-day present.
Wife let my buy a Cannon SX30IS to replace the camera that died in September 2010 on our trip to Washington DC.
I have been really wanting to try out the 35X optical zoom lens on this camera. The Moon was the perfect subject. These pictures have been resized but they have not been cropped or color corrected.
Start with Full optical zoom but no Digital zoom:

Full Optical Zoom and about half digital zoom:

Full Optical Zoom and Full Digital Zoom:

I am happy with its performance. It's not professional quality but it perfectly fine for my needs. These were all taken in the fully automatic mode. Not bad at all for a point and shoot camera.

Very nice! How bout some more pics of your trailer including interiors?

I have not done any more work on the trailer since my pics in the build thread. I am going to take it camping a couple of times to help determine how I am going to lay out the cabinets and other interior work. This weekend is its shakedown cruise.

Very cool, I love moon pictures. It would be interesting to see and compare a shot taken at the same time that's not zoomed in at all, to show how close that 35x really gets you.
EDIT: Just looked up that camera and the full optical zoom is equivalent to the zoom on an 840mm SLR lens! Sounds like a great Christmas/Birthday present to me.

You should take your trailer to Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma
-
That is one of the many places I need to take it. :)

I bought the same camera last year to take pictures of the eclipse.
It's also nice to be able to zoom in at faraway objects and even record HD video at the same time.
I believe I have the Eclipse album on my Facebook set to public.

Hope you're having fun with it. It's definitely a lot of bang for your buck!
