Plastic Fuel Line Coupler broke.NB.Concerned?
I had to wrestle with the fuel line coupler connections while replacing the fuel pump. One side of the fuel line broke off. This is NOT the little tabbed plastic retainer but the large female coupler on the fuel line. When I reattached the wounded coupler, it seemed to hold fast and did not show signs of leaking during a test run. I do not remember if this is the out-going or the fuel return side of the pump assembly. Repeat: one side of the coupler is in tact and holding the retainer tab; the other side broke off at the small plastic bridge that holds onto the retainer tab.
Should I be concerned? Why? When?
Is a repair on the plastic NB fuel line possible using EFI-grade hose coming off the nipple to a down line location, eliminating the coupler?
No pictures available. I was so pissed at the PITA coupler-retainer removal and damage that I did not stop at that time to take a pic.
Car is an occasional daily driver on a 4-hour round trip commute. I cannot endure gas fumes inside the car.
Any advise? (please don't say I should've let the Mazda dealer handle the whole thing; I can figure out that much on my own)
Thanks in advance.
