Sorry to hear that, man. What happened besides the oil filter?
Sad to hear...at least you guys hold claim to the most epic oil spill ever :p
What happened? Don't tell me the oil filter backed off. :-/
Yep oil coolier center bolt backed out, making the filter get lose, and blow the O ring out of the oil cooler, we put oil in and started it and no knock! So he should be golden, but now no car and no fun :(
Can you run your car in STR? I know Sean Oneill and Kevin Bartels would probably let you codrive their cars, and they are single drivers. Show up tomorrow and see what we can find for you two.
That would be awesome to atleast finish my last 4 runs, Armstrong is done he just wants to watch tomorrow, but we will be there in the morning and see what happens I guess, thanks
So it was the oil cooler bolt? Weird, that's the first I've heard of that happening. Was any work done to that part of the car lately? Makes me want to check the torque next time I do an oil change. (Of course, the service manual doesn't have a torque spec for it that I can find.)
Really? It's a common enough problem on the S2K that they sell a special locking/retainer kit for them. Glad the car seems undamaged guys.
Yep. The center bolt where the oil filter is screwed on to. After we'd tightened the oil filter more and it still leaked, I removed the filter and just out of curiosity I went to see if it was loose and sure enough it came right out. The car has never been worked on except for normal oil changes. I checked the seal and a section was missing so my day was done. I'll post a pic when able. A big thanks and apology to all that helped clean up the mess. They ran out of oil dry in the middle of the sweeper! Thanks to those that offered me their car to co drive and Brad for giving Ashley a ride. The battle was awesome to watch in STR!

Sorry to hear that happened Armstrong. Glad for you that it happened in a relatively low speed event. Hope you have it back up and running again soon.
Thanks Iain. I hope there's no damage to the motor. Did yours do the same thing or was it just the filter that came loose?
Yes, thanks for the co drive brad!!! It was a blast driving ur car, now u just need to sell it to me! Then just co drive with me the rest of the year till u find ur NC!! :)
Well the oil stayed on the course better than Big stayed on my driveway.....
