Little elm
Alright peeps, I've started looking for a house so that I can stop paying the man and actually own my own place. I've been looking from Corinth east to Plano and have been looking in the 120ish and below price range. Which has included 3bd 2 bath houses and prepared lots that I could put a mobile home on till I can build a house. I came across some nice looking places in little elm and wanted some feed back on the schools and the town in general. And also to see if anyone might have any leads on a nice place.
Thanks,
DD

I think you can find something in your budget there, not a bad neighborhood but traffic kind of sucks.

Unless you work nearby, traffic around there blows turbo nads... But as you move away from the metroplex you get more house for your money. Trade offs are usually long drives to work, construction delays, and general traffic congestion...

Lots of section 8 in LE... the schools... are meh. After Katrina, a lot of refugees moved to LE on the dole and caused issues. But the biggest issue really is the traffic. Only having one real route out of town causes massive traffic in the morning and evening.
That price range is really tough honestly in the 35/75/380/190 box.

Denton, denton, denton. Lewisville ISD is very good, Denton ISD is pretty good.

My issue with Denton is the I35 cluster over the bridge if you have to travel that way. 380 going toward McKinney isn't great (and likely is going to be ripped out and built into a toll road since that seems to be all the rage these days).

Yeah I've been looking and if something decent does pop up it's going quick. LE didn't seem too bad on I guess what you would call the east side. But I don't spend much time out that way like I use to. Most of the areas we looked were off eldorado and hart and to the east (towards frisco). The main issue I'm seeing with the houses in that area are that the taxes are crazy ($3900). I'm all for you get what you pay for as far as schools, but from what I can find on the net the elem schools are good but they start to drop of in the middle and high schools. The traffic won't be to much of a problem soon enough. I'm just looking to possibly buy before I change jobs to doing the Cat adjuster stuff. Since I'll be self employed I'd have to wait two years and the fact that the interest rates are so low.
