Yes its that time of year. It seems like forever since the spring event. We want to thank everyone that attended our Spring HPDE for the great turn out. Another week or two and the weather should start to cool off a bit and you all are ready for the fall event. Its time to exercise those legs on your car! HERE IT IS! This fall we will be back at,

Charity Rides
Not ready to drive the track yet, but want to see what it is like?
We are offering Charity rides for a $15 contribution to the BMWCCA National Foundation for sponsoring and defraying the cost of the local Tire Rack Teenager Street Survival School. Show up by noon on Saturday or Sunday, with your donation, and you will be assigned an instructor for a 20 minute session riding in an instructors car. This is a great way to see if driving on a track is for you! This way there is no need to modify your car, or pay any entry fees.

We know this doesn't apply to most of you, but it's a great way to get your friends out to the track to see what they have been missing!

For those folks only available for one of the two days, we are opening up the event for single day entries at this time.

Please register as normal and on the order summary page, there will be a box for DISCOUNT CODE.

It should go without saying, but if you use the above discount codes, you will only be allowed to run for the one day you registered for, NOT BOTH DAYS. The discount codes decrease the cost by $100 regardless of the run group you are driving in (takes Novice/Intermediate to $195 and takes Advanced/Advanced + to $175).

We really want to fill this event to capacity so we hope the one day option will make it more feasible to attend if you have a conflict on one of the two days.

Metal hardtops or roll bars passing the broomstick test are required.

just read there website. they want a 2" clearence of the broomstick. That's pretty much impossible in a miata unless you are a midget.

Yes, read the latest rules. The broomstick test is from the fro.t fender to the roll bar. It assumes a collapsed windshield . Basically rules out a streetable convertible of any type, unless you have a metal ht.

I think the rule is a bit heavy handed. PCA allows convertibles to run as do many other clubs. I guess too many Miata drivers embarrassed to many BMW drivers and they made the rule. Send a message to http://www.bmwcca.org/contactform and tell them what a Draconian rule this is for verts.

Yup - the rule is set by national and locally we wish it wasn't such an issue. Personally it irks me a bit because within the next year I may be looking to put together a track-only Miata, and will likely end up putting in a full cage and the hard top (ala SM style) to avoid issues with the rules.

I'm just trying to get notice of the event out wherever we know there are open track enthusiasts, so my apologies to those that the "rules" would preclude from participating.

Why advertise this here if not a single Miata-driving member can attend?

Not trying to stir the pot but there are a number of caged Miatas (some are Specs) that attend the BMW track events. And it has been my understanding for some time, that not everyone here has a Miata as an open track vehicle, but are/were Miata owners. I know of several 350Z owners, MINI and BMW owners who frequent this forum that fit that description. So again, my apologies for trying to get the word out to those who can "pass the test" that National imposes on our events. See Ken O's post (#10 above)

PCA lawyers must be better at reducing the club's liability when a convertible flips than the BMW lawyers. (or at least they think they're better)

Hoping you will upgrade from your crap box car with a tent for a roof.

I'm signed up.
I was hoping to take the miata out there, but decided to take the porky G35 instead.
It's not a race anyways, it's driver education; so I figure I take the principles learned while driving the G (front engine/rwd) and apply them to the miata.

Should be fun regardless.

I heard we should get a packet in the mail after registering... is that true? I hadn't seen one yet.

Glad to hear you'll be joining us. You'll get an email shortly before the event with details and copies of the forms, which are also available on the local chapter's website here. At check-in on Saturday morning you'll turn those forms in and will receive your "packet" with the schedule for the weekend and pre-assigned car numbers.

Our events probably have as many non-BMW cars as there are BMW manufactured vehicles - more like a TDE event than a PCA event. And if you are a novice or intermediate student, the instructors are mostly the same as those from PCA and TDE.

Bumpity - just in case some of you haven't seen this and perhaps take another car, or a caged Miata to the track.
