Also, is there a torque setting on these things for when you put the lug nuts back on so that they are torqued properly? Or would you still need a separate torque wrench for that?
Always use a TQ wrench to tighten lugs. Using this to install nuts is a good way to cross-thread them. At least put the nuts on by hand for the first couple of turns.
This is a good deal if you already have DeWalt 18V stuff, which can share the batteries with this one. Not sucha stellar deal for others, unless you pick up one of the Xmas deals around that give you an 18V drill with 2 batts and a charger for $99. That would put you at under $200, which is a smoking deal for some of the best tools out there.
I use the gun to tighten the lugs with no torque wrench. It always over torques them so you need to have good (arp) lugs and studs and change them out yearly. You also need experience with the gun to have a feel for when the battery is starting to run down (or use their lithium batteries which just shut off when they start to get low).
I bought one of these used and got around 4 years of heavy abuse out of it before it broke from a 6 foot fall. I am on my second one now which I got new from amazon.
I have one of these. 300 ft lbs is BS It may break loose a 90 ft/lb lug not but just barely. That being said my MX5 and RX7 use aluminum lugs torqued at 70 and it does fine.
Are you using the low profile batteries? Mine even with a low battery would easily remove 90ft/lb. At the next event you should try my gun/battery next to yours.Quote:
