P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1
My 99 is giving me a P0420. Assuming it's not just looking to get high, Mr. Internet says:
A code P0420 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
- A damaged or failed oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Downstream oxygen sensor (HO2S) wiring damaged or connected improperly
- The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly
- Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / muffler / exhaust pipe
- Retarded spark timing
- The oxygen sensors in front and behind the converter are reporting too similar of readings
- Leaking fuel injector or high fuel pressure
- Cylinder misfire
- Oil contamination
Car drives fine and doesn't appear to have any exhaust leaks.
The pointy board mentioned using this, as I do have a high-flow CAT & exhaust:

Any suggestions on where to start? I'm due for an oil change anyway, so that's low hanging fruit. Mmmmm... munchies. http://www.dfwmiata.com/images/smilies/hippi.gif
