Heard this on the radio earlier.... reading it doesn't make it seem any more plausible. Either the guy is a total sleaze, or a complete idiot.
^ maybe he is both?
Yea something seems very Lance Armstrong about this entire story......
Head case. He and his family are still going to get rich off his notoriety and football, which sucks, but he is clearly not going to be trusted by teammates and such. I predict a short career followed by many "where are the now?" stories. Pathetic.
On the other hand, Lance Armstrong must be ecstatic for the diversion!
Yeah, this story has weird written all over it.
Does Lance really want a diversion though? You don't confess something to Oprah Winfrey if you want to keep it on the down low.
I'm calling it right now. The fake girlfriend was a cover for his affinity for showtunes, small dogs, and Miatas. Since he's a Mormon going to a Catholic school, there's no way he could let that cat out of the bag. A dead fake girlfriend is unassailable and makes for a nice "inspirational" story, but nothing about this adds up. Tip of the iceberg, kids... tip of the iceberg...
Interweb girlfriend FTW!!!Quote:
Te'o Statement:
"This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online. We maintained what I thought to be an authentic relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone, and I grew to care deeply about her. "To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone's sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating. "It further pains me that the grief I felt and the sympathies expressed to me at the time of my grandmother's death in September were in any way deepened by what I believed to be another significant loss in my life. "I am enormously grateful for the support of my family, friends and Notre Dame fans throughout this year. To think that I shared with them my happiness about my relationship and details that I thought to be true about her just makes me sick. I hope that people can understand how trying and confusing this whole experience has been. "In retrospect, I obviously should have been much more cautious. If anything good comes of this, I hope it is that others will be far more guarded when they engage with people online than I was. "Fortunately, I have many wonderful things in my life, and I'm looking forward to putting this painful experience behind me as I focus on preparing for the NFL Draft."

Hmmm trickyrix's theory seems quite plausible! ::Fruity::
Hey, I like small dogs and Miatas .... not a fan of show tunes though. Safe? ::Fruity::
BEST t-shirt ever...Attachment 6002
If the Cowboys draft this guy ...
the weird thing is the 'on the phone' part... voices in his head or what...
I want to see phone records of all these all-night calls, and the CC record of the flowers he sent to the funeral. Then I'll believe he was catfished.
I dont think those things will ever be released. I think his California buddy started the ruse, but Manti definitely took
it to the next level to get himself the Heisman nomination. If he makes it to the NFL there is going to be so much smack talk on the field about his dead girlfriend he wont be able to concentrate on the game!
