Yeah, puts a pretty big damper on the autox scene, with some of the other options proving less than ideal lately. It would be really good if TMS could finish the construction or find a way to divert the runoff so the lot stays cleaner. Really, we need concrete. Resistol had a great surface, but people didn't like the tight lot. Personally, I'd rather have more 30 sec runs on good concrete than 50 sec runs on gravel.
I feel that Resistol is too small and too dangerous.
This really REALLY sucks. I'm hoping that whoever this person is who "put a lot of money on the table" is going to try to get things up and running ASAP. :(
KenO never does anything fast, other than crashing VWs.
Unless someone is looking to pick up the property the bank would be stupid to foreclose. With it open they are probably receiving something each month. With it closed what the hell can you do with it?
You made Mikey cry at the ER board (bored?) meeting.
Ken, this is third hand, but I understood the bank already owned the property after a series of defaulting owner/operators. The current Raceway management is just a leaser/operator and his payment doesn't even cover the property taxes.
The key to financial success is providing storage at a fee for our rally's cars so our spouses ne'er find out...
Bummer...so TMS and MW are the only venues left standing?
And Mesquite Memorial Stadium, which is less than ideal.
The Motorsports Complex idea is actually pretty brilliant. Someone here must know the ropes of running a good drag strip, the autox and rallyx (drift, car shows too) are just a matter of marketing.
sad news indeed.
Sad news since it is an awesome site and autocrosses are typically on a Sunday. Sunday is the only day I know for sure I'm off of work.
I spoke with Ken Hall this morning. He said that the Equipe Rapide autocross will continue as planned for Sunday May 5th. He said that he is working with the bank to keep the site open. At this point there is no urgent need to reschedule autocrosses. We should know more by the end of next week.
