i am used to my civic and on there the distirubitor is really simple
i was looking in the engine bay last night after workign on the brakes and i got scared, real scared cause it does not look very easy to change out the cap. is there even a cap there or am i just lost since i dont have a manual yet>?
No distributor ... the Miata uses direct ignition.
so i just need to change plugs and wires?

Bingo. The timing is changed by changing the orientation of the Cam Angle sensor on the back of the valve cover. you need to find the diagnostic port and jump ten and grd in order to set the timing.

Haynes is still good enough to use in a pinch. I used it for my first waterpump/timing belt change as well as the first brake job on the 92 B&T.
You should buy the Enthusiasts Manual but while you are waiting on it to get shipped to you, the Haynes manual will work - It's pretty cheap too.

Now that I have a factory shop manual (thanks, Sammm! :mrgreen: ), I find it indispensable. Not only does it show you how to take apart and reassemble virtually everything on the car, but it also lists all of the specific CELs and all of the factory diagnostic procedures for determining what's wrong based on symptoms.
Definitely worth the cost. :wink:
I buy a factory shop manual for every car I buy... I have the '04 shop manual that covers the mazdaspeeds as well if anyone needs to look through it.... For a few beers, I might be willing to scan relavent pages... :oQuote:

I've never set the timing on one, but am willing to give it a shot... I've done a lot of other work on my Miatas over time.
I'm just up the road from you in Lewisville and this would give me an excuse to buy a timing light. :twisted:
