It's true.
The Driveshaft Specialist will sell you a new Miata driveshaft for $300. It's heavier duty and comes with greasable, REPLACEABLE U-joints. Almost next-day service. No complaints.

Other alternative is used. I have a two 1.6 and one 1.8 driveshaft sitting in the garage. They all have a "notch" you can feel when you turn the U-joints, but were not vibrating when removed. I just didn't like that notch. You could make me an offer. :D
Thanks y'all, I'm guess I should order the one from San Antonio if I need it by this Sunday. :S
Wonder if this one could make it another autox day. Its just a slight hum...for now. Hehe.
If its not clanking, might be a wheel bearing or pinion bearing.

949 actually sells the driveshafts that are built by the San Antonio outfit (or maybe Emilio has a CA shop that builds up the same thing).
Seriously, that San Antonio outfit is fast. I've gotten 3 driveshafts from them (1 Mercedes, 2 Miatas). Highly recommended.
