Engine swap questions

I am motor swapping a 2000 into my 99, other than seals and radiator hoses. Is there anything I should change? I am planning on boosting the Miata mid next year so I think I might upgrade the clutch too. Any suggestions on things I should replace or upgrade ? Thank you.

Drill & tap the pan for the oil return, and then install a plug until it's boosted.

Boosting for street only of track use? Clutch is a mandatory upgrade and I'd look at a flywheel as well. Go ahead and do the timing belt and water pump. The list could go on and on it just depends on what your power goals are and if you plan to track it.

Replace all the coolant hoses, especially the one on the back of the block to the oil cooler. Much easier with the engine out. Use new motor mounts.

Front seal on the transmission.

This and get the Mazdaspeed mounts as they are stronger.

^ MazComp are the same price as regular NAs….and NB fit NA at half the price, if your on a budget.

Both track and street. Car will be Autocrossed twice a month and may see about 2-3 track days a year. it's my weekend fun car.

For track use I'd do the following now to make life easier later: Replace all the coolant hoses with silicon hoses, bypass the coolant lines to the TB, install an oil cooler, do a coolant re-route (complete PITA after motor is in), 2001+ oil pan and main bearing girdle, ARP head studs (not required but recommended, install and cap T-fitting for oil supply line, Add real oil and water temp & oil pressure gauges and sensors.

Remember you want the motor to be in the best possible shape before you add the turbo. Do you know the condition of the motor? Leak down numbers? Have valves been re-shimmed?
