NA Quarter Window Seal Rip

Hey there. I have a little issue with the rubber seal on my driver's side quarter window on my NA. I just wanted to see if I could bring a few heads together here and possibly come up with an easier fix, rather than replacing the whole window/seal all together. Basically, looking at the picture, the issue is with the very very top point of the window. The inner seal at that point is very thin, and I guess over the years of rolling the window up it finally gave in and ripped. The effects of this is that my window now goes up too far, and causes wind noise to come into the cabin. So what im asking is if anyone can think of a fix to somehow seal the rip. Any and all recommendations are appreciated. And yes, I did stick a piece of electrical tape on it for a few days haha. Thanks

The rubber seal isn't the limiter for the window height there is a mechanical stop in the door.

Not sure of anything you could use to reseal the 23 year old rubber. ;-)

The rubber seal is not capable of stopping the window, since it is very thin, unreinforced, and well...its made of rubber. You need to remove the door panel and adjust/replace the mechanical stop.

Which is the metal L shaped piece with the rubber at the end, correct?

The positive stop more than likely hasn't moved. More than likely the rubber window seal shrunk.

If that were the case, I'd still have to move the stopper in whichever direction to compensate for the shrinkage, yeah? And am I correct that it is the metal L shaped piece? Just want to make sure I'm fiddling with the right component.

So you move the stop so the window does not close as far so you get more leaks. Sounds logical.

What? Not move it a ton obviously, but move just enough so that when the window is all the way up its flush.

But if were going off what your saying, then the stopper is not at fault, in which case the quarter window seals need to be replaced.

Either way, it is now fixed. Moved the L bracked a few mm down, and everything now lines up as it should. No leaks, no extra wind noise, no money spent.
