Would any of you guys happen to know if the 6 speed has some sort of vin identification on them? When I bought my car the PO told me the trans was changed (flood car and trans was shot) but do not know what year it came out of to get a shift bushing ordered. Is there a physical difference between the early and late 6 speed bushing to where one just plain won't fit? I was thinking i could order both the early and late 6 speed delrin shift bushings and test fit them and see which one fits mine.
Yes there is a difference. Just added the 5X bushing to my 6-Speed (Newer Style 17mm bushing)

I see now, thanks a bunch man. Think I'm gonna go with a delrin bushing as I'm worried about the metals ones wear patterns and leaving shaving in the trans. If thats even a concern at all? Any difference really between the two as far as shift effort or notchiness?
Old OEM one was gone not even a trace of it when I swapped in the Bronze one.
Didn't want another plastic bush so I went with Bronze. New one shifts like butter. YMMV
The use of GL4 fluid also makes Miata Manual Transmissions happy.
Ya when i bought mine and changed the fluid it was jet black and a suspiciously low, changed it with some redline synthetic and it made a ton of difference (though it was 2 years ago).
