Need Arkansas road suggestions

Trina and I are heading to Jefferson, TX for our Honeymoon next Saturday and Sunday. Then we have until Thursday or Friday to "roam" in the Miata. From Jefferson, TX, Arkansas is really close so I figured we tool around up there.

I'm planning on making Eureka Springs our destination. Got any suggestions for good roads from say, Texarkana to Eureka Springs and back with some nice stops in between?

I know I've been up there but I was always following someone!

Looking at the map and on the net I'm thinking the following....

From Texarkana take 30 to Hot Springs
Then take 7 north all the way to Harrison
62 to Eureka Springs and tool around Jefe's roads
Head to Fayetteville.
From there, 16 South, to 23 South, to 71 all the way to Mena looks promising.
Hwy 88 / Hwy 1 to Talimena, OK
From there I'm at a loss.
Msybe 144 South to 259 South to Broken Bow, OK?
Then shoot down to I30 home?

Anyone got and suggestions taking that general route?

I would suggest if you have time to go up Mt Nebo. It's an interesting ride!

Magazine Mountain was a real hoot as was Hwy 7 and the Talimena Scenic Trail. If you scroll down a few posts you'll find the route maps.

There is an Arkansas Miata club. I'd contact those guys with your question and I bet they'd have some good suggestions too.

Great suggestion, but the boy is gone, out frollicking in the woods somewhere. Of the 6 or so miata guys that went, Stevan Boyd was the only one in a miata, except William of course. Everyone else the MSV there.

AVOID I-30, it has the bumpiest ride of any Interstate that I've ever been on. You can actually count the expansion joints by how many times your head hits the roof.............. unless they've completely resurfaced it in the last few years.

Other than that I'd head for the Ft. Smith area (NW). The Ozarks are beautiful!
Lake Quachita is just north of Hot Springs also, very nice!
