Sounds like some a-hole left a firework on top of the car, which caught the top on fire. The car certainly looks like a total loss to me:

wonder why the body is beat to crap then. Hood, front fenders, rear deck lid. :???:
I figure with that much heat that the aluminium hood and decklid would have easily been warped by the fire.
As for the bigger dents... sometimes firemen really don't care about the property they're trying to put out, they're just trying to put the fire out... or they could have already existed.

Turns out his insurance won't be covering the vehicle... so he's mierda out of luck. He mentioned he may part out whats left of the car.
