Maybe I should consider a separate set of tires for Auto X

OK, I apparently flat spotted my tires last weekend, as I now have vibration. So here's my delima.

I've got my Azenis on my 15x7" rims, and I've got crappy Futura tires on my 14x5.5" rims (that I can't seem to get rid of), so I'm thinking, I'll run on the 15" rims until the tires are worn out, then buy two sets of tires. Azenis (195x14x60) on the 14" rims, and go with regular street tires for the 15" rims.

What do you guys think. Am I killing myself by using the smaller wheels for AutoX? The problem is I like the 15" wheels for everyday (they are so much more attractive), or should I resign myself to using the 14" rims daily. :scratch:

Yea but then you have to come up with a way to haul them to events, with a tire tail or a trailer. Not to mention the hitch and all the required tools for changing tires at an event. The cost ends up a touch higher than just the tires.

I'd go buy a set of 14" Azenis and make them your AX tires & wheels, and then just switch them at home prior to an event. Then the 15" can be the daily tires!

I'd also suggest a set of Azenis over a set of R compounds to start with, for a couple of reasons:

1. They're cheaper than R compounds.
2. You can drive on them to & from events without worry (see POS's post).
3. They are more forgiving and predictable at the limit than R compounds, especially for a novice.
4. R compounds tend to mask bad driving habits. Learn to drive smoothly on street tires first, then move up to R compounds after you've upgraded the driver.
5. Did I mention they're cheaper than R compounds?
