Just got back from Texas World and the 05 Edition of the 6 HR Enduro. For the second time out of four years Myron Perry and I finished .....RUNNING! We used his 94 1.8 and actually ran in ITS instead of SM. We had some Hoosiers and in ITS we didn't have to run the RP. With only five ITS entrants we figured the reliabilty & gas milage of the miata might overcome the power difference in the faster ITS cars we were running against. For once things worked out. We finished 2nd and actually beat last years ITS winner by a lap. A 240Z was first, our miata second, 2nd generation RX7 third, and 300ZX fourth. The 240 was way too fast with Danny Benser and partners turning a 2:01. We were consistent with a best lap in the low 2:04s. The second gen RX7 had one of the Stephens brothers from Hallett and Dan Crossette from Arkansas behind the wheel. They were only a little faster then us but our better gas milage more then made up the difference. John Phillips / Blake Clements (2:00 something, pretty dang fast miata lap!!!) won SM ahead of Ara & Stretch. A Spec Racer Ford won overall. Great day for racing.
