Tire Chains
I am driving up to Colorado this weekend in the element, up in the mountains to go skiing. I was wondering if anyone had a set of cheap tire chains sitting in their garage they wouldnt mind lending out for a weekend. I dont think I will actually use them, but I would like to have a set handy in case I do need them, this is why I would rather not have to buy a set that I will never use.
The element is FWD, so I only neet 2...or one, I dont really know how that works.
Anyway, I know this is Texas & probably nobody even has a set, but I thought id ask anyway.
Also, is there a local place around here that I could get them?? I dont want to buy online so I could possibly return them if I didnt end up using them.
Because I dont really get out of Texas much, anyone have experience using tire chains that would have some advise they could throw my way?

What size wheels? Tire chains come in different sizes.
FWIW, I've got a full set (all four wheels) of unused Diamond tire chains that I bought originally for the Accord. They will fit the following tire sizes:
215/65-14
255/70-14
215/70-14
225/60-14
205/70-14
255/60-14
205/65-15
215/60-15
195/70-15
205/60-15
205/55-16
I paid about $150 shipped for them, and I've never even taken them out of the storage bags. I'd let you have them for $50.
Chains are necessary on the drive wheels, but they are also useful on the non-drive wheels, as they provide an increase not only in acceleration traction, but braking and lateral traction as well. Putting chains on the front only and then having to make a emergency lane change would be a good way to fishtail yourself into a ditch.

OE tire size on the Element is 215/70/16...not sure if those would fit or not, but im not a tire guru. I might be slightly interested if I could squeeze them on.

I think the roads will be driveable where we are going, but if I fishtail into a ditch or something I need a way out of it.
