Well I was thinking about alarms and all, and figured that a hidden kill switch would be a very cheap way to keep someone from stealing a car. Which would work best cut the power to the starter (pop the clutch anyone?) or the coils. Any thoughts? I just put lots of $$ into my car in the last few months and would hate to lose it all to a thief.
Also...does anyone lock their doors?
How about theft rates/statistics for Miatas?
Hell, just wire one in to kill the clutch safety switch. Nice & low current means a small switch that you can put just about anywhere.

I removed the killswitch that was in my car when I bought it, they used a DC switch out of a lamp or something that bypassed the big ol 30A fuse. I don't know what they were thinking, but I guess it worked for its purpose.
I've done a Spec Miata and will do another one soon. We are required to kill EVERYTHING, so this DPDT switch disconnects the battery and the alternator. Once the car is running, you can remove the battery (ask me how I know!) and it still runs.
I had a starter-interrupt switch on my '92. Hidden 'momentary' switch that had to be pressed while cranking.
Well that sounds like a good idea but I am much better with mechanical things. Not so good with electricity. I would need more detail. But still an interesting thought.Quote:
