Decided to look into replacing the home A/C filter. Went to Homer Depot and was shocked! Sure they had the $7 filters but the one I need is 20x25x4 and costs $30! This is ridiculous for essentially some cardboard and some paper. Is there a washable reuseable filter available? I looked online and they aren't much cheaper. :punchout: Part number is FC100A1037 and is a Honeywell brand.
BTW, anyone know what a MERV rating is in regards to these filters?
Washable filters rule when the sun is shining and warm. Taking one to the curb when the waterhose is frozen is another story, but you only have to buy one for the next ummpteen years :clap:
I feel ya! My house has two Honeywell units with those silly filters. I'm thinking about getting some washable filters, but I've got to do some more research on them.
MERV is a filtration rating, the higher the better.

I think you have to have a custom one made. My wife was looking into it.
