TDR shock tower brace

Have you guys seen the new TDR shock tower brace?
I just got one on my car a couple of weeks ago and man is it solid.
The car feels much better in the front, and the price was good too.

and a question....

I know that most of you guys that have aftermarket sways on your cars run autocross without the rear bar or using just the factory rear bar.....whats the difference?
I currently have both front and rear FM bars and the car seems to drift a little less in the rear than with the factory bars but seems to lend more control.....I am just curious if this is something mainly subjective.

I run the FM front bar(15/16") and no bar in the rear, but I also don't have the STB. Though I am considering getting one when I get new springs/shocks.

I have it set right now with the front bar in the tightest hole and of course the rear bar is non-existant and that seems to give the car a nice neutral balance, yet still tight at the same time. Once I get the STB/springs/shocks I will see how it handles but my current thinking is that I will knock down the setting on the front bar to the other- more loose- hole to compensate for the extra bracing on the front end from the STB as not to induce more understeer.

How much did that brace run you from TDR? The ones I've seen from Good-Win Racing typically run in the $100-$150 range iirc.

In Stock we're only allowed to change the front bar. Most Stock class drivers use a much stiffer front bar to limit body roll and then dial out the resulting understeer (from running a much stiffer front bar with a stock rear one) with alignment and shock settings.

In the higher prep classes, you'll typically see Miatas set up with a stiff fornt bar, and either no rear bar (faster courses) or an OEM rear bar (tighter courses). In these classes, the resultant understeer is dialed out using spring rates alignment, and shock settings.

If I am understanding you correctly then the FM sway on the back will create more understeer?

No, a stiffer rear sway bar (all other things being equal) will typically create LESS steady-state understeer.

or more oversteer, which is not a good er....safe (to an amatuer) way to set up your car. unless thats what you want, then just be careful;)
